Sales

We build and deliver editorial automation tools: DrPublish, Front Pages, and Print Automation. These are production lines, not demo-friendly toys.

Who we work with

We work with media organizations with 100+ editorial FTEs, from regional newspapers to international media groups with 1000+ editorial staff. Content-first and digital-first publications: newspapers, magazines, tabloids.

Requirements:

Our partners can work with smaller organizations.

How we sell

Demos and videos have their place, but they're just the starting point. We sell and set up editorial production lines and automation systems, not software you can fully assess in an afternoon.

The evaluation process is a two-way street: we need to be certain we can deliver on your requirements, and you need to be certain of what you actually need. We stay committed to the discussion until both sides are confident.

Understanding how good we are requires time: workshops, a pre-study (2 weeks) that maps your workflows, technology, and design patterns, and calls with our customers. Send the people who will gain time, efficiency, and focus on what matters: journalism.

Implementation expertise

Our implementation partner Tikktakk will work with you to ensure the technology fits how you actually produce journalism. The pre-study maps not just technology, but roles, responsibilities, and handoff points in your production process. Learn more about how we work →

Setup and implementation

Implementation typically takes 3-9 months from contract to first go-live. Most activities run in parallel: while you work on requirements and integrations, we set up templates and workflows together.

We train your super-users, who then train your organization according to your specific workflow. This ensures the system fits how you actually work, not how we think you should work.

What our customers say

These are real production environments, real deadlines, real results. Talk to them yourself.

Heimo Krum, CIO, FUNKE, 2026

Remarkable software quality, creativity in finding tailored solutions, and swift implementation. Aptoma has proven to be a valuable sparring partner and advisor without compromising the integrity of their Print Automation solution.

Frank Nipkau, Zeitungsverlag Waiblingen, 2025

Using Aptoma's Print Automation, our average production time is now down to around 10 minutes per page and we're confident we can reduce that even further — the editorial transformation is only just beginning. Most importantly, readers haven't noticed a thing. That's the best kind of success.

Tom Lekang and Thomas Nordby, Amedia, 2024

We've successfully automated 100 newspapers in just over a year. Each 6-7 batch of newspapers only needed one day of training and one day of Q&A, before senior and junior page editors alike were comfortable with automated workflows using Print Automation.

Kjersti Kvile, Fiskeribladet, DN Media Group, 2024

Print editor positions are down approx. 80% (down to only 0.5 positions) since using Print Automation. We are now able to do the editing with the left hand, so to speak. This frees time for journalism and digital editing.

Jarle Grivi Brenna, Verdens Gang (VG), 2023

The collaborative features of DrEdition Front Pages enables us to update the front page quicker. It's been working really well for us.

Endre Lilletvedt, Bergens Tidende (Schibsted), 2023

In 2023, while using Print Automation, Bergens Tidende won the European Newspaper of the Year award for regional newspapers. Print Automation has made our design and typography more consistent and thus much improved our overall newspaper design. Print Automation has also freed time and energy needed for creating big award-winning newspaper stories.

Robin Ettinger Julsgaard, Nordjyske Medier, 2022

― "We wanted to give our journalists as much time as possible to write (...) so we began to explore the possibility of integrating Desk-Net to Aptoma."

The results speak for themselves with an 80 percent increase in production efficiency, according to this case-study published by Desk-Net.

Fredric Karén, SVP Editorial Schibsted (WAN-IFRA 2022)

[Schibsted] News Media made a decision to invest in Aptoma print automation technology with the ambition to move away from NewsPilot/InDesign and at the same time implement a new editorial workflow to obtain long term efficiencies.

Espen Moe, NHST Media Group, 2021

Print Automation has worked well both strategically and operationally for Dagens Næringsliv and Fiskeribladet. We have good reasons to expect similar results for our other NHST-titles.

Jesper Nørgaard, Jysk Fynske Medier, 2020

It was a pleasure working with Aptoma during the setup-project. Our inquiries and needs were timely answered. Aptoma keep what they promise. I like how they say no instead of maybe, when necessary. We now have an editorial production workflow appreciated by both journalists and editors. We look forward to refining our workflow further together with Aptoma, to our mutual benefit.

Christian Stavik, Berlingske Media, 2018

Our bounce rate has never been lower, and reading time has never been higher on BT.dk. The quality of DrEdition as a technology and Aptoma’s product and technology advice has been crucial for our accomplishments. We now consider our front page performance to be best in class.

Trond Sundnes, NHST Global, 2018

We are seeing up to 15 pageviews per visit, on average, when using Swipe Editions to publish our national daily in the evening.

WAN-IFRA Award, 2015

Aftenposten+ powered by Aptoma and Agens technology wins price for world's best tablet newspaper app. A further progressed version of the same article layout technology is now powering Print Automation.

Designer and judge Mario García to describe it as, "One of the best newspaper tablet editions: clarity of navigation, excellent combination of short and long content. Good photography and an overall look and feel that reflect the spirit of Aftenposten. Bravo."

Espen Olsen Langfeldt, VG, 2014

We can now provide a far better VG+ product that creates a more active reader and better sales, as well as a production solution with much lower staffing than we had when using tools from other vendors

Anette Mellbye, Aftenposten, 2014

Already at the first LayoutPreview demo we were hooked. As the CEO of Aftenposten Mobil, I could immediately see that LayoutPreview could increase the value of our Aftenposten Pluss product.

Before introducing LayoutPreview into the workflow, user adoption and user satisfaction to Aftenposten Pluss had stagnated. The new version now has received massive positive feedback, which is out of the ordinary when changing a product drastically.

Best of all is that the average reading time is now three times higher then on our web-products, and we he have seen a 40% increase in reader subscriptions during the summer!

From a cost perspective, the LayoutPreview layout automation features ensure that we can deliver design perfection to all our articles on both tablets and smartphones. Getting our editorial staff to work with LayoutPreview has been seemless — they love the creative flexibility and simplicity of use.

I can recommend LayoutPreview for any tablet or smartphone media product that aims for visual perfection and scaling.

Håvar Bremer, VG, 2014

A key part of our great success is our ability to adjust content to exactly reflect the current most important events, minute by minute. It makes our readers return again and again throughout the day. DrFront enables us to do this with low effort and great results.

Per Valebrokk, E24, 2011

The introduction of DrPublish has resulted in a significant improvement in virtually every editorial process in E24.
